The following article was submitted to TLS today in response to the Readers’ Scoop regarding the collecting of the Akerman Signs: The county workers in question were ordered to pick up ALL signs that were placed on the county right of way, or that were placed in a manner in which created visibility issues with the driving public. Its hard enough to get from point A to point B safely in Lakewood without any hazards. Period. This was not – repeat NOT – exclusive to Akerman signs. Had the person in question opened their eyes they would have seen that other signs were onboard the vehicle.
Driver looked like he was going to attack? Baloney! Had the driver of the car opened his window, the above would have been explained to him. Period.
#22, the signs you mention were left because they were at the top of the hill and did not cause visibility issues.
I invite all of you go to the county garage and see for yourself that there are signs from ALL candidates that were picked up.
Signed,
THE DRIVER
Two questions –
Did you in fact take pictures of his car and license plate?
Did you get out of your truck in middle of Cedarbridge Ave. and approach his car?
Yes or no?
#1 who cares.
he could have easily gone back to take down other candidate signs before he decided to explain himself in order to back up his story. no one will ever know the real truth.
Thank you TLS for posting that and thank you Mr. Driver for writing that. So many times people are ready to jump up and down and point fingers. Those who hear it readily agree without ever verifying it. This time it was DPW another time it is a Police officer or even a Rebbe.
When will we learn not to quickly judge people? If you want to have your doubts or suspicions etc great! But why do u feel the need to voice it in a public forum where noone gets to hear the two sides.
Some of the DPW employees are from the nicest and most devoted in Lakewood. They have a tough job keeping up with the ever-exploding town we live in. Did Mr. Franklin spend too much when building the DPW? Maybe yes or maybe no I’m no expert but one thing for sure the men in the truck meandering through a dvlpmt filled with double sided parking busses and …does not have an easy job! Thanx guys!!!!
Thank you County Driver, I appreciate you posting this at this time. It seems every time people see something they act rather than finding out the entire story. Good Job
I’m glad the county is out there picking up these signs. The people who put them out never bother collecting them when the election or advertised event is over, and they become yet more trash clogging our roads. I have no patience with people who see anti-Semitism under every rock.
i was the passenger in the county truck and i can back up the drivers story if needed. again, you can visit the county garage and see signs from ALL candidates. and for the record we have been removing signs for approx. 1 1/2 weeks before the election.

#4 – Mordchie – Thank you. We are attempting to provide the best service we can daily. As the town grows and congestion increases it becomes an even bigger challenge. DPW workers have one of the most hazardous jobs of any public servant do to the traffic conditions they face daily. All we ask is you slow down for our safety and yours, when u see us on the roads. Don’t forget Fall leave pick has started.
Why you dont want to post my comment? Its too offensive for Mr.Arecchi? Or you just waiting until you show it to him to see if is ok to post it or not? Have the guts to post it.This is America, home of the Freedom, right?
Lakewood scoop i have the utmost respect for you before but i dont feel that way now.I have not disrespect anybody with my comments and even that way my comments are never post it.This is America not Cuba.Go and investigate and you will find out that what im saying about Mr.Arecchi’s friends from Jackson is true.I always though that to work here you have to proof that you live in Lakewood at the time of you getting hired.
