Coronavirus: Update from Drs. Cohen and Lempel’s office

In the interest of the well-being of our patients, and to reduce the spread of coronavirus, OCIMA will no longer be able to offer walk-in hours. We will be monitoring the situation regularly and will reevaluate as necessary.

Covid-19, coronavirus illness, has the potential to seriously affect seniors and immunocompromised individuals. We are making the following recommendations.

1. Whoever has a fever, cough, runny nose, congestion, or sore throat should not go to public places, such as work, school, shopping or place of worship, until the fever and symptoms have resolved for 24 hours. If you have the above symptoms, please do not come in to our office even if you have a previously scheduled appointment. Please call or text us at 732-305-0201 and we will guide you. Our office is not seeing patients unless screened prior.

2. Anyone aged 70 and above with any significant medical issues -for example, a respiratory or heart condition, diabetes or is immunocompromised – including those undergoing chemotherapy or on immunosuppressive medications, such as systemic steroids and biologic agents or conditions that weakens the immune system should remain home EVEN if they are feeling well, unless it is absolutely necessary to go out. The public areas mentioned above should still be avoided.

3. Please consider waiting for routine doctor visits. However, for any urgent condition, contact us.

4. For non-urgent questions regarding coronavirus, please use our texting and voicemail system at 732-305-0201. For all urgent or emergent medical needs please call 911 and then please leave a message at 732-305-0201 or our office number 732-370-5100.

Wishing you good health as we navigate this time together.

  1. Lkwdresident: it doesn’t say patients are being turned away, just that walk-ins are not being accepted, only appointments. And that if someone has all those symptoms they should call for guidance on next steps for the patient rather than keep their appointment.
