A Hatzolah radio lost about three weeks ago, was recovered by a police officer this evening from a man who was arrested, TLS has learned. About three weeks ago, a Hatzolah member lost his radio while getting into his vehicle, but moments later – when he discovered it was missing and returned to where it could have fallen, it was gone.
At about 11PM this evening, police arrested a man in the area of Sampson Avenue – for unknown activities.
After arresting the suspect, the arresting officer searched the party – a standard procedure – and found the man to be in possession of a Hatzolah radio.
The officer keyed in and called out for the Hatzolah dispatcher to verify that the radio belonged to them.
With the Hatzolah ID displayed on the screen, the Hatzolah dispatcher confirmed to the officer that the radio indeed belonged to one of their members.
The radio was brought into Police Headquarters, where it was returned to the grateful Hatzolah member. TLS-CCP.
Thank You Officer Delvalle,293!!!!
You Rock!!!!
Thank you officers for keeping our town and streets safe. Thanks for your concern and the way you do your jobs.
Glad it wasn’t a pd or lcsw radio… Because then it would have been a hard time to arrest him as he would have known where to run from unless he doesn’t speak english…
Ptl. Del Valle. You are a true mentch. Thank you for you service and good luck with your running!!!!!!!!!!
They can always remotely turn off or disable the radio if it gets lost.
How was the radio still working after three weeks without being charged?
Was it at tent city?
Efsher he bought a charger. Kudos to the askanim for catching this guy.
im sure that radio had the police programed, and lcsw. should have been remotely disconnected from the tower/service. – not smart.
To Mr. Conservative
The radio is not is not capable of having pd band on it. Pd uses digital trunking systems which aren’t programmable on a regular UHF radio.
LCSW is a possibility but most hatzalah members don’t have their band programmed on their radios.
Anyways, thanx to the officer that so diligently did this good deed.
Let this be a warning to all of us. Do not engage in unknown activities. You might get arrested for it.
what exactly was this person able to do with the radio? Hear Hatzolah dispatch members to a site?
No matter what he could do with it – it was a loss to a wonderful volunteer organization and it’s great that they have it back. Thanks officer, and I’ll take this opportunity to put in a thanks to Hatzalah for all their good work.
