U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (NJ-04), chairman of the House panel that oversees international human rights, will chair a congressional hearing Wednesday on the case of American Jacob Ostreicher, who has been held without formal charges in Bolivia since June 2011.
A hearing will be held entitled “Seeking Freedom for American Trapped in Bolivian Prison.”
Smith was asked to become involved in the case by Mr. Ostreicher’s daughter Chaya Weinberger, a Lakewood, N.J. resident who is a constituent in Smith’s congressional district.
Chairman Smith, and other members of the human rights subcommittee will attend the hearing.
Witnesses will include:

Jerjes Justiniano Atalá, of Bolivia, attorney for Jacob Ostreicher
Miriam Ungar, Mr. Ostreicher’s wife, of Brooklyn, NY
Chaya Weinberger, Mr. Ostreicher’s daughter, Lakewood, NJ
Steve Moore, former FBI Special Agent, known for his work in the Amanda Knox case in Italy.
The hearing will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, at the Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2172. TLS.

#1- Lautenberg is a senator, the hearing is in the Rayburn building, which is one of the 4 buildings of the House of Representatives. So most likely Lautenberg will not be there.
Any information on whether Hillary Clinton is getting involved, similar to the David Goldman case, where Chris Smith led the charge and Hillary Clinton threatened the Brazilian government?
