Congressman Smith calls for “Robust funding for protecting synagogues and other houses of worship” following Texas hostage incident

Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Co-chair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Anti-Semitism, today issued the following statement on the tragic hostage situation at Congregation Beth Israel in Texas:

“I am grateful and relieved that all hostages from Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas, have been freed unharmed. I thank the FBI and local law enforcement for their professionalism and their role in bringing an end to this tragic drama. It reminds us, however, that we have seen an alarming rise in anti-Semitic acts and violence in recent years. We must condemn hatred of Jews wherever it occurs and from whatever quarter, and Congress must continue to provide robust funding for protecting synagogues and other houses of worship.”

  1. Thanks but no thanks.
How about a bill stopping the restrictions of out rights to defend ourselves.
Many of us are more then capable and trained to defend ourselves and loved ones.
FYI supreme court ruled that police is not obligated to protect anyone.
They can flee at anytime in a rough situation.
    “reference- florida school shooting.”

    ALLOW US TO ARM OURSELVES!!

How about a bill that will stop the restrictions of our rights to defend ourselves.
Many of us are more then capable and trained to properly defend ourselves and loved ones.

Allow us to arm ourselves especially in our most vulnerable locations.

Good luck on getting this bill passed.
it will definitely help provide security upgrades including access control and cameras.
But an armed citizen in the right place and right time can’t be “regulated” by the state.
