Dear Friends, Michelle and I are deeply saddened by your loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. I hope you will be consoled by your cherished memories and comforted by the presence of family and friends.

  1. I think it’s wonderful that the President would take time out from all of the problems facing him every day to pay homage to our fallen hero. I hope that his words bring some comfort to his family and friends.

  2. Guys, please relax. Pres Obama didn’t write it. he just signed it……and i am sure they have a signature stamp……..didn’t make to much of an effort.

  3. so generic.

every cop get the exact same letter , as does every soldier. there nothing personal and the signature is a stamp.

    sad but true

  4. Mr. Obama didn’t feel it was important enough to show his face at the national day of remembrance for fallen officers(when officers from around the country-including Lakewood-travel to Washington to partake in it) that was held about 5 weeks ago. He was in DC but was too busy hosting some actress(if I remember correctly). Letters mean nothing. Mr. Obama likely never saw the letter.

  5. #3 – Don’t get too excited over this letter. My bet is Mr Obama doesnt even know that it was sent. The letter is a typical letter that the white house sends every time a police officer is killed in the line of duty, and the signature is most probably a stamp.

  6. New Jersey must not forget “Poetry Night” at the White House on 5/10/2011, where one of the guests was the rapper, Common. Common celebrated Assata Shakur, in his song “A Song for Assata.” In 1973 she executed Trooper Werner Foerster with his own gun.
