A ‘Rally of Hope’ for Ocean County’s Homeless will be held June 3rd in Lakewood’s Red Square on Clifton Avenue. The rally, sponsored by several local community and religious organizations will feature a meal for the participants, free haircuts, blood pressure readings, and information tables with distribution of toiletries and food. It will also present seminars for the homeless.
In addition to assisting the homeless, the rally will give the public an opportunity to learn about homelessness and how they can take part in ending it in Ocean County.
The rally is free and open to the public and will begin at 12PM and end around 4PM. TLS.

Good Grief! Why not hold the rally in the camp, rather than Lakewood Town Square. Red Square is in Moscow.
Why doesn’t Lakewood do what Toms River just did move them off the property. Unfortunately I think they moved them to Lakewood.
Agree with #2 it is town square, Red square is in Moscow.
Just get rid of them. What they are doing is illegal and the town is pandering to them.
#3 The tent city that was closed in Toms River was on a piece of property that was privately owned and the owner asked them to leave and so they did. Unfortunately, Lakewood decided to go through the courts and the judge has chosen to turn the resolution over to a Mediator.
If they want to end homelessness they should close tent city. While the place was created with good intentions, keeping it open only continues the cycle of homelessness for the people living there. Unfortunately, conjecture figures that the people organizing this event in Red Square, be it in Lakewood or Moscow, do not see Tent City as a problem.
you gave 34,000 to the mex. so why not the homeless
how many people (I think it was over 600 last year) does Ocean County Social Services put up in motels in Ocean County with your and my money every night? How much does it cost (I think it was around $100 avg last year) to put up that person a night? Multiply the number of people they put up times the amount they pay times 365 days, and the figure is $,$$$,$$$.$$ million a year. I think last year it was about 5 million. Who is getting all that money? It’s cheaper to put all these homeless people up in houses for what the county is paying in motel room rent. I think it may be cheaper to build a homeless shelter and maintain that. And what other services are they getting from the taxpayers? Anybody?
#7 Please explain how closing Tent City ends homelessness?
