Community Comes Together for Soup Kitchen, Coat Drive, and Thanksgiving Baskets at Lakewood Town Square, Hosted by Lakewood Police and Local Organizations

A large crowd gathered earlier today at Lakewood Town Square for a community-wide Soup Kitchen, Coat Drive, and Thanksgiving Basket distribution event that ran from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Hosted by the Lakewood Police Department and the Lakewood Community Coalition, the event brought together residents from all across town seeking a warm meal or a warm coat. Attendees were treated to hot soup and fresh sandwiches generously provided by JBJ Soul Kitchen and others, while tables and racks filled with new and gently worn coats allowed residents in need to choose a warm winter coat with volunteers helping match sizes.

In addition, they distributed Thanksgiving Baskets on a first-come, first-served basis. Dozens of families picked up much-needed supplies ahead of the holiday.
