[COMMUNICATED] For smarter homeowners throughout Lakewood and neighboring areas, being “rather safe than sorry” has recently taken on a literal meaning. Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith confirmed to TLS that the recent string of burglaries – many of which were forced entry – have already passed the $1,000,000 mark.
Homeowners reported stolen valuables to include cash, jewelry and paintings. In one instance, the burglars actually made off with a Sefer Torah. What makes the sharp rise in these occurrences particularly worrisome is how the perpetrators exhibited a working knowledge of security camera systems, often cutting security lines and leaving homeowners with yet another hole in the pocket.
Lakewood police and Shomrim are encouraging homeowners and renters alike to take extra precautionary measures to avoid becoming the next victims of these break-ins.
Smarter homeowners are responding to the harrowing news by installing personal safes in their homes and storing cash and other valuables out of reach. Buying a proper safe is actually a no-brainer, with studies showing it nearly completely eliminates the chance of burglars walking away with the valuables secured within.
Want to do the smart thing? The following 3 safes are perfect for both homeowners and renters looking for secure, affordable security solutions starting at $150.
The hotel-style Dusaw S17:
Featuring a motorized opening and closing system, the Dusaw S17 measures 7.8” x 17” x 14.3”. It safely accommodates cash, jewelry, watches and collectibles, as well as laptops and other personal electronics. Additional safety features include anti-drill rotating bolts and optional tamperproof screws for floor mounting. If you’re a renter, the Dusaw S17 is the ideal solution for keeping sticky fingers away and for easy maneuverability/moving when relocating to another apartment. (Note: Cannot be used on Shabbos).
The truly heavy-duty Mesa MBF 1512E:
For those storing manuscripts, valuable paintings, luxury watches, and even hard drives with sensitive information, the Mesa MBF 1512E offers serious protection against burglars and the elements. Features include all-steel construction, 2-hour fireproof rating, 4”-thick door, code defense feature, massive 1” diameter solid steel deadbolts, and a Shabbos option.

Our shul recently got a safe from Go safes, We were about to order it through the manufacturers website and they showed go safes was going to do the installation… so we contacted go safes and they we’re about 400 dollars less… Thank you Reb Ari!!
it is best to burry the safe in concrete when the house is being built or jack hammer it after, you do not want to leave it exposed to visitors , help, etc, or you could be forced to open it in a robbery!
in me construcktion good safes have slots to run rebar under the slab together with thicker concrete.
I was really impressed with this company, the service was great, the price was great and they also installed a safe for my cousin in Brooklyn.

If I recall correctly, in at least one of the recent burglaries, didn’t the thieves break open a safe? And/or made off with the entire safe? Don’t know what company they bought it from.
