Common Grounds presents its Gardening At Any Age Event

[COMMUNICATED] Tomorrow, July 8th, Common Grounds, Ocean County’s new community garden, will be hosting a unique event for adults ages 60 and older.

Partnering with Link Home Therapy, a corporate sponsor of Common Grounds, this event will be free and open to the public.

Attendees can look forward to a light brunch, a gardening activity, and a presentation from both a physical and occupational therapist from Link Home Therapy on how to move outdoors with ease.

Common Grounds, a project of One Ocean County, is a new community garden in the John Patrick Sports Complex in Lakewood that was formed to create a beautiful space for Ocean County residents of all backgrounds to participate, visit and learn from. Corporate sponsors including Brookstone Management, Lakewood Residence and Spring Oak Management have made this garden possible.

The garden is open to the public and visitors can come see the many plants, flowers and vegetables that have begun growing and will continue to develop over this growing season. Some of the vegetables there include strawberries, tomatoes, beans, cantaloupe, watermelon, parsley, basil, cilantro, and fennel. There are also zinnias, petunias, sunflowers, milkweed, hellebores and hydrangea that visitors can enjoy.

Past events were very successful and this event for adults is anticipated to be educational, enjoyable and a great chance to learn about the community garden and what is growing.
