Heavy precipitation is expected across most of New Jersey today, with a coastal flooding advisory in effect in a dozen counties and snow expected in the northwest. Drivers in counties affected by the coastal flooding advisory should avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding during high tide, according to the National Weather Service. Those counties include: northwestern Burlington, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Salem and Union. The coastal flooding advisory is extended to noon Sunday in the following counties: Atlantic, southeastern Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean.

Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory is in effect until noon Sunday in Sussex County, where snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected at high elevations. As much as 6 inches of snow is expected in some isolated areas, according to the advisory. The National Weather Service predicts the snow will likely be wet and heavy, and could knocked down tree limbs and power lines.

Heavy rain and temperatures in them mid-40s are expected statewide today, dropping into the 30s overnight. The wet, cool weather is not expected to break until Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Star Ledger
