JCP&L Boasts, “Unlike Cloudfare’s Outages, Our Outages Do Not Knock Out Websites!”
After a Cloudfare outage knocked out countless websites on Tuesday, JCP&L issued a statement on Twitter boasting that its power outages have never targeted websites, and calling upon the public to boycott Cloudfare over its “website-devouring activities.”
“No one should be forced to live with knocked-out websites,” JCP&L said in the statement issued on Tuesday, “and yet, while JCP&L outages have carefully avoided knocking out websites and harming the internet community, choosing instead to focus its knock-out capabilities on air conditioning systems and lighting, Cloudfare’s outages have utilized powerful knock-out punches to take out thousands of websites, leaving internet users in a cloud of despondency and futility.”
“Hence,” the JCP&L statement went on to say, “we at JCP&L are calling upon the internet community to boycott Cloudfare until the company agrees to end all outages and allows the world wide web to function freely, in an unhindered fashion.”
“JCP&L will always defend our nation’s internet from the claws of Cloudfare and other tech monsters who prey upon hapless websites and other vulnerable and voiceless entities that are unable to speak up for themselves,” JCP&L said in the statement. JCP&L then added: “By the way, there will be a controlled electric power outage in Lakewood township Wednesday and Thursday from 9 AM till 11 PM. Lakewood residents are advised to follow their usual power outage routines, and to stock up on plenty of candles and flashlights – and popcorn too. Thank you!”
