Dressed in a matching sponsor-t-shirt, the joggers kicked off the 5Kilometer run at 2:00 PM, escorted by Police.
At about 2:35 PM, the first two runners made their way to the finish line, followed by the third about a minute later.
After all the runners arrived, the crowd danced and cheered while enjoying the singing of surprise guest singer, Yaakov Shwekey.
Following the welcome, the runners were called up to stage to receive their medals and trophies, cheered on by close to 1,000 attendees.
The families were then all invited to enjoyed a BBQ at the Center’s dining room.

Shorts in Lakewood!!!!! Himmel geshrei!
You may or may not know that the Center is a Lakewood organization and would not coordinate a co-ed jogathon especially if it is taking place in lakewood due to tznius reasons. A bit of respect please…There are other Jewish organizations that have marathons and jogathons where women are allowed to joing and some are women only. One thing for sure is that you should not take it personally in any way.
To Toieiva:- Shorts are dangerous and can cause a fire. If you have shorts, you should call an electrician right away!!

In response to #4 –
I’m well aware of male and female only events, but no where did they specify that it was a mens only event. Lakewood is not a Jewish Orthodox kibbutz. It’s a township in the state of New Jersey, and there are many here of different faiths. Please respect everyone else in town who are not of your faith or sect.
And in response to those who are using the term “marathon.” A marathon is NOT a 3.1 mile run. It is defined by a long distance run or 26.2 miles. Unless you have personally ran in a marathon, you can’t begin to understand how hard it is, and how much work the runner puts in to run a marathon.
