‘Cleaning Men’ Reportedly Steal Woman’s Pocketbook

LPD small LPDSo you thought it was just the ‘Cleaning Ladies’ cleaning out your stuff? Here’s a shocker. An Elmwood Village man tells Police, that two Latino men cleaning his home, made off with his wife’s pocketbook, Detective Lieutenant William Addison tells TLS. The men, who were hired to do some cleaning around his home, were picked up yesterday morning and were dropped off a short time later on Clifton Avenue.

As the men left his vehicle, he noticed one of the men walking away with a shopping bag, but didn’t make much of it.

On his way home however, he received a frantic call from his wife saying, that her pocketbook-with her cell phone inside-was gone.

Detective Sherry Jones has been assigned to the case, which Lt. Addison calls “a quite difficult one”.

  1. What’s the chiddush? You let strangers in your home are shocked when their value system is warped? I never allow my cleaning help alone in any room which has any valuables – and she’s been with me for 2 years already. I don’t know what her ethics are, I just know she cleans well and is reliable about coming. And, by the way, I wouldn’t allow her to babysit my kids either without a thorough background check. Please don’t be naive.

  2. What was wrong with my comment? You hire cheap, your going to get cheap service. You cheat, your going to get cheated. You cant come to the plate with dirty hands and not eat dirt.

  3. All it takes is for one to get away with it and others will follow suit. (see June 29 police article) Just wait this is the up coming epidemic….. 1, 9 and 11 why do you take for granted these people were negligent? They could’ve taken the purse that was put away. I wouldn’t jump to accuse another person, I hope you never learn from personal experience that as careful as you are these things do happen…..the only solution would be not to have help as some people suggest, however, for many of us cleaning help is one of the only things that keeps us going….
