Cleaning Lady Returns Stolen Cash To Homeowner After Confronted By Police

lpd car3A Cleaning lady was caught after stealing cash from the home she worked in, but returned the money when she was confronted by police, Detective Captain Paul Daly confirmed to TLS. The Hispanic woman, ‘Emily’, described by her former employer as a ’round faced woman with a piercing under her lower lip with curly hair and works with iPod headphones in her ears all the time’, was confronted by police after the homeowner noticed the cash she had in her pocketbook went missing.

Police arrived and told the woman that she would be brought down to police headquarters for questioning and an investigation would be launched. At that point, the woman returned the cash to the owner.

The homeowner contacted TLS in hopes of warning other potential victims. TLS.

  1. Again. Hiring cleaning people and not knowing there full names and leaving cash out. I wonder how the cleaning lady would have been found if she had left before the police got there. How many round faced women with a piercing under their lips are put there? Oh wait, maybe only one has curly hair and works with an ipod on. Come on! Where would the police even begin to look? I am sure emily is probably not her real name

  2. This woman worked in my house. For the last 2 weeks my wife can’t find the camera and has been telling me that she is certain the cleaning lady took it. I figured that it is just misplaced and that it will surface sometime soon. I now have no doubt that this woman took it. I will be contacting the detective.

While I am not commenting about the illegal labor aspect, as to your comment: “how about people start cleaning their own kitchens and toilets?”
    – Is there something wrong with a woman working as a therapist for $35 per hour and paying someone $10 per hour to clean? Especially if she finds it more fulfilling?

What do YOU do for work – find the least enjoyable, lowest paying task you could find to occupy yourself with?

Don’t try to make this into some value system problem…paying for help while doing something that pays much better is simply smart economics.

  4. 1.) I cant stand people who hire criminals, and then cry about becoming a victim.

2.) I cant stand people who allow criminals, known/obvious gang-members reside in their rental property and then cry about having a house gutted & ruined.

3.) I cant stand people who invite criminals, illegals, gang-members, via rental properties and then sit around and cry about the town going down the dumps….

4.) Basically what im trying to say is I CANT STAND PEOPLE WHO PUT MONEY(income generated) OVER: SAFETY, TOWNSHIP & NEIGHBORHOOD AESTHETICS, NEIGHBOR RESPECT, ETC

-STOP HIRING, EMPLOYING, NESTING, AIDING AND ABETTING SCUM AND YOU WONT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!

  5. why don’t you post a picture of “Emily” so everyone knows who NOT to hire (since she’s just going to go to the next Lakewood neighborhood without the piercing if she’s smart). My husband made ours give us a copy of her (Guatamlan) passport so we had her picture/real name/information in case we needed it (it was the only way he’d let her work by us). She always knows we have this (she was very reluctant and scared that we’re going to call INS) so hopefully we won’t have any problems with her.

  6. “why does the LPD treat Hispanics like children?”

its not just hispanics… and its not the LPD’s fault.
ITS THE LIBERALS WHO DICTATE, TO TREAT ADULT CRIMINALS LIKE CHILDREN.

  7. We tried using a professional bonded cleaning service, beside the price, you can’t tell them what to do, they have a system of what they clean and won’t change from that. They are for the typical Americam family of 1.4 kids and a pet, not for our culture. Not saying they don’t work, but you can’t tell them what to do, the company has a “boilerplate” they follow.

  8. #14…soooo. you’re saying its OK to hire illegals because of your lifestyle??? Clean your own house or is that too much to ask?

  9. Again, stop employing illegals to do your house work. Not only do many of them steal but they can also bring other hazards into your home such as bed bugs. When you use a reputable company for cleaning, all the employees are bonded and the company is insured. At least if something happens, you’ll be covered by the company’s insurance

  10. # 14 is right, Try using a reputable bonded company for Pesach Cleaning, that’s not what they do, they vacum, sweep, and clean tubs and toilets.

  11. I think the less discussion about cleaning help on a public forum like this the better. People who have grown up in large frum communities do not get it that there attitude toward cleaning help is much different than that of the average middle class American. I’m just an out of towner, and I was very surprised at what goes on in Lakewood about cleaning help. People in our community consider it a necessity and the norm, while the average middle-class (yes, working) American would find that attitude offensive. And…yes, stop hiring illegals. That you feel you need it is really no excuse, so don’t go there.

  12. People, the less cleaning ladies are discussed on a public forum the better. Many people don’t realize that the way they view cleaning help, and the norm and a necessity, is very different from the way your typical middle class American views it. As an out-of-towner, I was pretty shocked by it myself when I first moved here, and still find some of the attitides distasteful. Yes, much of it can be explained by the fact women have lots of kids and work, but your average American is NOT going to get it, and will find it offensive.

In addition, there is no excuse for hiring illegals. “I really need it” won’t fly.

  13. To Fahrfrumt: I lost a triple stranded pearl braclet that was extremly sentimental and beleive it ws stolen by my cleaning lady as well..discreption matches just not sure abou tthe hair…where do you live? I think she only does my neighborhood?

  14. If you have kids, its not too outrageous to ask them to do chores around the house. My kids folded laundry, washed dishes, vacuumed, clean the bathrooms etc. I never had cleaning help and I worked outside the home part time. I also did not supplement home made meals with takeout and I sewed my daughters’ Shabbos clothes. If you want cleaning help get it, but, don’t complain about the consequences.

  15. obviously she was scared of being confronted and came forward with returning the money. we do need to be careful with whom we hire in our homes for work. just because the person seems honest, doesn’t mean you can really trust them. i have a cleaning lady who has not stolen anything since i hadn’t seen anything missing. doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but so far she seems very honest. of course we have to judge people favorably and not accuse them of something they didn’t do. but if it’s obvious, then it most likely is that person

  16. #16 is correct. I received two phone calls. One woman found out her cleaning lady has tuberculosis and another found out her cleaning lady has Hepatitis C. It is not exactly fun reading, but there are books on cleaning more efficiently (using janitorial tools and supplies) that are time savers. Cleaning the windows is no problem for me and I look like a hero.
