Readers are reporting to TLS that after the Walters Cleaners in Todd Plaza shut, they are unable to get their clothing back.
One customer sent us the following.
“Walters Cleaners, which was recently purchased by a new owner, abruptly closed down around two weeks ago without any notice to the customers. The owner kept taking in everyone’s cleaning. Now he closed the store, posted this sign so that people can supposedly get their clothing back. The problem is, that no one EVER answers the phone, nor do they call back or respond to texts. There are many dozens of people in my predicament.”
Others outside the store have expressed similar frustration as well.
TLS reached out to the plaza management, who said they are working on the issue and are attempting to obtain a number for the customers to call and receive their clothing back.
The number will be published here when we receive it.
UPDATE 1:00 PM: The management has advised TLS that some have received their clothing back after contacting police.
“Police officers have also had clothing there,” the management said.
To file a report with police, call 732-363-0200.

Thank You for posting, I have two of my suits there.Left many voicemail’s and no answer!!!!Looking forward to having a number with a human behind it 🙂
Is this the famous Walters tailoring that was on Main st for so many years?
They were the go to place in Lakewood if you wanted nasty attitude type service – but a decent job.
Thank you for posting this. I am missing my clothing as well! Crazy how the guy has not responded to any calls. So frustrating.
I started to send my clothing to him around two months ago because he was the cheapest around, when I one time approached him very nicely about a problem that I had with the job, because I was getting back my shirts missing a lot of buttons and very badly ironed he simply told me that he does not need the customers that he gets from the local community, most of his money he gets is from big jobs that he does for wholesale, and that I should get out of the store. So I did not go back.
Just letting you know what type of person he is and why he does not care to give back your clothing he is an extremely dishonest person, and I was afraid of being physically assaulted when I complained to him.
