If you’re vehicle is burglarized, the CIU (Criminalistics Investigation Unit) will no longer respond to investigate it, Police Captain Paul Daly tells TLS. Daly says the reason for that is due to the same issue many Law Enforcement agencies around the Country are facing, which is under-staffing.
However, under ‘special circumstances’ – for example, if police see a pattern or it ties them to another crime – CIU will respond, Daly says.
Although Lakewood sees a higher number of vehicle burglaries compared to other Towns in the County, CIU’s policy is for all of the County.
Local police however, will take the report. TLS.
Just make sure to lock your car
Dah!!
thank you to all the drones who didnt lock their cars even after being forewarned…. now that resources are depleted, EVERYONE is punished.
#1. They know how to break windows.
Dah!!
its hard for lakewood police to do anything since they are so under staffed, maybe lakewood will wake up and hire more cops
Will they respond to a car that is a few feet from the corner near Yeshiva or do the LPD have more time on their hands for that nonsense?
take all your the important stuff from your car and bring it in to your house and lock the car door, get an alarm, there are lots of things you can do.
LPD can’t do much without CIU since only CIU takes fingerprints……
maybe if people stopped leaving their cars and houses unlocked, stopped balancing baby car seats on top of shopping carts, stopped forgetting about their kids in their cars, stopped leaving their toys and junk scattered on the streets and in yards, and stopped renting to illegals and gang members, maybe THEN the police will be able to do their jobs and clean up this town. it’s the stupidity exhibited everyday that hamper the LPD’s efforts and keep them bogged down with nonsense.
now lakewood must hire more police officers !
no excuses they have the money for it let them use it to get rid of all thegangs and crime in this town !
to Anonie thank you, you said everything i was going to say.
Will they respond if someone steals a pen?
As states and municipalities around the country face the reality that there is simply not enough money to pay for all the promises they made to their citizens, all kinds of government services and benefits and programs and pensions will be cut.
When there’s no money, you stop spending.
Unless you have a credit card. But the government already maxed out its credit card.
On the other hand, you can tax the rich even more. Eventually, you can tax the rich until they have no more money. Then we’ll just come after the middle class, until we destroy them too. Then there will be no one left to tax, and we’ll be a third world country.
Another choice is to just print trillion$$, and have hyper-inflation. That won’t help anyone either, just as it didn’t help Nazi Germany in the 1930’s.
By process of elimination, the best bet is to stop spending. It will hurt all of us, but the earlier we start, the easier it will be.
The other choices are worse.
maybe if the stopped using two cars with 4 cops to pull over people for expired registrations they would have more cops for this.
there are always many cops just hanging around . we have more cops than we need, the cops just have to be willing to do more work and less donuts and coffee, and they have to be there to protect the people , and not just give tickets to fill the townships coffers.
Hey #13:more cops?
What planet are you from? You have no idea what is going on, no idea what you are talking about. I feel sad for you.
Frankly, I’m tired of all the blatant cop bashing.
If the Lakewood Cops gave out all the enforceable summonses for all the traffic infractions, blowing stop signs, red-lights, yellow-light speed-ups, crossing over and using striped areas to cut off people waiting for a left turn, double-parking, parking in fire lanes and handicapped spots and issuing summonses for motor vehicle issues like missing headlights, taillights, turn-signals, seat belts, cell-phones (which is deadlier than alcohol) not using child safety seats, having bald tires, etc., etc., there would be plenty of money to be had by the Township.
Then everyone would complain on TLS that the cops are not fighting crime while they are actually SAVING lives. If there’s a priority call, they will leave your little temper tantrum and respond.
You want to be an outlaw and continue to rant about cops while you make it more dangerous for everyone, yourself included, face the facts. Let them do their job, be thankful to Hashem that you got a ticket because that’s a wake up call for Teshuva. You can thank the officer for doing you a favor and making it safer for all of us.
To #13
Can you please cite ONE time you saw 4 cops in 2 cars issuing a summons? Of course you cannot, because it never happens-not in Lakewood at least! You MAY be referring to 2 cars with an officer in each. That is only seen at night. Don’t forget we don’t live in West Orange NJ or some other upscale town. Pulling over a motorist is one of the most dangerous things an officer must do every day. He/she must exit their car and approach a vehicle completely exposed to various dangers that can occur.
Having a second officer as backup only seems natural. In NY EVERY car has two officers in it. In NJ our officers are spread among more vehicles so you have more cops in more areas at once.
Start to appreciate things done for you instead of always critiscizing. It will do wonders for you!
LPD the best
num 14 u made a very important point very well said
