Verizon, the nation’s largest wireless company, said it is scrapping the $2 “convenience charge” for those customers who make one-time bill payments using a debit or credit card, either online or by telephone, citing ‘customer feedback’, CNN reports. The fee was to go into effect on Jan. 15.
The decision comes days after Verizon announced the $2 fee citing that the fee would help allow them to continue to support the single bill payment options. TLS/News Breakers.
haha we are a bunch of suckers. We are all concerned about a putrid $2 fee when they are selling us down the river with all the other fees they tack on. check your verizon bill and check the so called “Verizon charges” and you will know what i mean. i’ve been with verizon for almost 10 years and i’m just waiting for metro pcs to get their act together to jump ship!
This is the power of competition. If a provider of goods and services begins to price themselves out of the market, it opens doors to competition.
No one is forced to purchase an overpriced product or service. However, one must make an honest evaluation of the benefit of having a higher priced product, to determine if the additional cost is warranted.
In the case of the $2.00 tack-on, the consumer has spoken. Fortunately for Verizon, they listened. Their Marketing Department is foolish.
no none forces anyone to use their service, so you have a choice to go to another company, how about where that is not possible and they charge you a service fee ,does MVC come to mind yea its only a few bucks but very annoying when you have no CHOICE. Competitions is always a good thing for controlling pricing and service
Ahem..
The real reason why Verizon backed down from this imprudent idea is thanks to my efforts on behalf of the entire Klal. I personally called them on Thursday to inform them in no uncertain terms that if they were to go through with this ill-conceived proposal I would take my account and persuade all those in my circle to abandon Verizon. As a several-years-long “VIP” customer, my complaint reached the highest levels in their bureaucracy. I helped them understand that this was a case of “principal” and I would not allow such behavior to be tolerated by customers who demand – and have every right – to total freedom-of-choice in form of payment.
They were able to “see the light” and fortunately made the proper business decision!
For the present time they can continue to have my support, but they should be cautious about introducing any other “creative” income boosters because now they know that I am watching..
🙂 🙂

How about the NJ Dept of Motor Vehicles? They also charge a “convenience fee” for your car registration online. Also a scam.
Actually some of us have no choice but to use verizon. Some new developments and streets can only connect or talk with verizon, so our hands are tied. There is no competition
