Cigarette Butt may have caused Brush Fire in Lakewood today; Red Flag Warning in Effect

nj state forest fire svc brush fire 4-19-15A cigarette butt may have been the cause of a brush fire in Lakewood this morning, TLS has learned.

Firefighters responded to the area of Washington Street and Pine Street shortly after 10 AM today for the brush fire, but managed to bring it under control before it could spread further.

Officials say it may have been caused by a discarded cigarette butt.

The National Weather Service today announced that a Red Flag warning, which means due to the weather conditions brush fires could quickly get out of control.

The warning is in effect until 8 PM this evening.
