Children, Educators Still Await Special Educational Services Contracts

classroom lkwd tlsChildren and vendors are still waiting to resume some of the special educational services halted due to the changes in the 2014-2015 school year contracts, Board President Isaac ZlatkinĀ  says.

Despite the emergency meeting helping to expedite the signing of services for nursing and IDEA services, the Title 1 contracts have not yet been completed. Service providers have indicated they will only resume servicing the children once the state clearly states their position which determines if the providers will be reimbursed for the services.

Meanwhile, Askonim and school heads are meeting to discuss their options, pending the results from the state.

  1. I just want to clarify to your readers that the result of signing the IDEA and 226 contracts are not a result of the emergency meeting. There were no serious issues with any of these contracts. It was a result of mediation with district officials, the Sate monitor Mr Azzara and IDEA coordinator Mrs Adina Weisz. Its important to note that much can be accomplished through proper dialog and understanding. On another note, after a meeting this afternoon, the 193 contracts should also be good to go at this point.
I personally want to thank our State monitor Mr Azzara, Superintendent Mrs Winters, IDEA coordinator Mrs Weisz, and attorney Joe Roselle for all the effort in clearing things up in the above mentioned contracts which don’t need to be delayed.

  2. It is still not clear what is going (went) on…

Joel, can you please write a detailed explanation from beginning to end in layman terms.

    The voters want to know.

    Thanks

  3. Nice to know that people are working together in this district to get things done!! Well done- thank u Mr. Schwartz for the update. One question- who is being held accountable for this mess so it doesn’t happen again!

  4. Mr. Schwartz giving others the credit is nice to finally see here. Everyone out there please be aware the MR SCHWARTZ gets all the credit for pulling all these pple together!!
Thank you for representing us the way we like to be known.

  5. Wake up…the attorney by the meeting said the contracts should have been completed mid July, services didn’t start September 1 because people you thanked couldn’t care less about orthodox children…..now they are turning around because of all the pressure….

  6. I am a parent of a Special Needs Child at The Center. I have just been told that my daughter will be losing her placement in this superb program. My daughter has already started school!!! No reasonable explanation has been given and I don’t sleep at night worrying what is going to happen. I have a lot on my plate. Mr. Schwartz- What just happened that I am being told this NOW!!! The Center has been servicing students for years- Why?? Please stop this injustice!!

  7. if everything has been fixed why are my children still not getting the services that they very badly need?
also why are the teachers who work for these service providers still not work?

  8. u dont get what is going on right now…my whole block is unemployed because of this special-ed mess! but it doesnt end there- the rest of the block are babysitters and playgroups….and guess what??! all these mothers who dont have jobs in special ed are obv not sending out their babies…so the babysitters have very few, if any, babies to watch!!! its a vicious cycle…

  9. Helen loved the special children center until she stopped living them. Then she declares all kids at center must leave. That’s her motto. Love em and leave em.
