VIDEO: A child was transported to the Hospital after being struck by a vehicle this evening. The accident occurred at the intersection of County Line Road and Lexington Avenue shortly after 5:00 PM, while the child was crossing the street with his bike.
Hatzolah BLS and ALS units, as well as EMS, responded to the scene.
The bike and one of the child’s shoes were removed from underneath the vehicle, but officials say it appears the child was thrown from his bike, and was not pinned under the vehicle.
The child was transported by Hatzolah to Jersey Shore Medical Center with minor injuries. TLS-55/TLS-CCP.
(This story was first reported on our News Alerts).
hope this child is ok. will pray for the whole family
WHY DOES HATZOLAH TRANSPORT ACCIDENT VICTIMS TO JSMC RATHER THEN PKH. THE TRANSPORT TO PKH IS ALOT FASTER AND PROBABLY CHEAPER TOO.
We need sidewalks on county line NOW NOW NOW lakewood is no longer a village its a big city we need sidewalks on countyline NOW
Jersey Shore is the trauma unit in this region so all trauma is sent there! Kimball is just a few minutes closer but not as equiped to deal with these types of emergencys… jersay shore is less then 20 min from Squankum driving regular speed!
i think everyone need to wear the reflictor at night bc everyone in lakewood dress in black. for everyone safety please wear reflactor jacket……
What was a 5 year old child riding his bike on the street, especially after dark? Did he have lights and bell on the bike as REQUIRED by law? Was he wearing a helmet?
What is PKH ???
“What is PKH ???”
“Paul Kimball hospital” is not a trauma center, while Jersey Shore University is a level 2 trauma center, so as per EMS protocol trauma patients go to Jersey Shore, the nearest trauma center.
To# 2
Some doctors won’t send to Kimball more than to take a child’s temperature, that’s why!!
to # 7 PKH stands for “Paul Kimball hospital”
@please answer this, Jersey shore has the best trauma center in the entire area if not the entire new jersey while Kimball (moderated) @Anon Where in the story does it say the child was 5 years old? @lost PKH stands for Paul Kimball Hospital (or however you spell it).
Yenty, to cross a street, one must leave the sidewalk! Read the posting.
To #6 – the story states that the accident occurred at 5:00 PM. There is no mention of the child’s age, so the time is the only place the number 5 is mentioned.
Read people, READ!
To #7 – Paul Kimball Hospital.
BTW – PKH means Paul Kimbal Hospital. However, that is the name used by Lakewood old-timers. The new name, which was changed a few years ago, is – Kimbal Medical Center.
It’s sad for anyone who wears reflectors. I wear a bulk load of reflectors every night, and that doesn’t stop ANYONE from nearly crashing into me with their car. Not ONCE has any driver yielded to me. I cross at the lights, but that doesn’t stop people from trying to “race” me to the road.
Attention Drivers: A lot of the time you look right at me, and still manage to nearly hit me when I enter the road. As a pedestrian, I am trying to get from point A to point B in one piece. Not in pieces. The few SECONDS you have to wait to “let” me cross will not kill you, but it might kill me if you’re not willing to be patient, and FOLLOW the LAW!!!
I also use sidewalks whenever possible, but there are areas where the shoulder is the only option. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve nearly been hit by cars DRIVING on the shoulder! To top it off? They honk at ME. They are the one’s breaking the law, and they have the audacity to honk their horns at me!
If you’re too selfish to act accordingly, perhaps you should think about your life, your future, and your conscience. Your lack of care for anyone else on the road will cause someone else to get injured, or C’V killed. Are you willing to live with that for the rest of your life? Knowing, you have taken away a life, and destroyed their entire family, forever?
P.S. I have FINALLY bought a HD digital camera to strap on me while walking. This camera WILL catch the make and color of your car, your license number, AND your FACE. Keep that in mind the next time you think about driving in such a dangerous selfish manner. It’s one thing for you to break the law, and be “sure” you got away with it. It’s another thing to be caught in the act. There is no disputing a crime when it’s YOUR face on camera.
so do we now agree that i am needed all over this town ?????????
Is there a name for tehillim
Its known as kmc kimball medical center
Maybe he is not 5 years old, but by the size of the bike he might be even younger. He should have a Refuah Scheleimah.
The child is 5 years old. He was crossing county line with his bike, in the dark of night at 5 PM, ALONE, no parents or older child supervising him. I am appaled and shocked at this senseless tragedy. lets all say tehillim and hope he makes a full recovery.
The child is B”H okay, it was just WAY too dark and foggy to see even an inch in front of your car. Not anybody’s fault, just very hard time of day to see…
it is crazy at 5:00 you have busses zooming around as if they are responding to a call with lights and all, people on way home the streets are mad!! you cant see a thing!!
I wouldn’t let a 5 year old child cross Lexington Ave. by himself, even in broad daylight. (If it was indeed a 5 year old )
# 14,
Feeling better now that you got that out of your system?
Great post #14 and a perfect time to remind people that it is illegal to drive on the shoulder. That means if the guy in front of you is waiting to turn left, you CANNOT drive around him on the shoulder. If caught, you will get a ticket and 4 points on your license.
The shoulder is for pedestrians and cyclists., disabled vehicles, emergency vehicles, construction vehicles.
AGAIN – it is against the law to drive on the shoulder. It is no different than driving on down the sidewalk to get around traffic. STAY OFF THE SHOULDERS!
the “only” traffic signal that is obayed is a green light. (stop signs are just an eitzah tova bealma)
It is also VERY dangerous and illegal to go around the left side of a driver who is going straight to make a right turn because you don’t have patience to wait for him. That can cause a terrible accident in case the driver going straight starts driving while you’re going around in front of him. It has happened to me several times.
On the topic of reflectors, I’ve almost hit people more than once who weren’t wearing reflectors! And i know I’m not the only one. It costs only a few dollars and can save your life! I just went out and bought one-why wouldn’t you wear one??
#14 u may be rite, how ever just remember its ur life! not that the drivers dont care but that u need to be carefull!
