JUST IN: [VIDEO – UPDATED] A child is enroute to the Hospital after being shot. The shooter – reportedly a 14 year old, was caught moments later and taken into custody.
The incident occurred at the intersection of East 4th Street and Negba Street.
A gun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, an official says.
The victim is reportedly 10 years old, and was transported by EMS to Jersey Shore Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, according to an official.
CIU is investigating the incident.

What I don’t understand is, how could the shooter have gotten the gun in the first place, with all the tight gun laws in NJ that expressly prohibit
a 14 year old from having a gun?
Aren’t strict gun laws supposed to work?
As a resident of Lakewood for 35 years, I never understood when people started carving out new streets and building houses in that that neighborhood about 15-20 years ago. Park Ave, was a “Pachad” to drive on even then. I was horrified when those houses went up and I had to drive my kids to friends in that area. And I’m not even a person who gets too scared about these things. It’s not “what is Lakewood coming to?” It’s a matter of if you build in bad neighborhoods, don’t be surprised about crime occurring there. (Not to mention that the area is so ugly!)

At the .53 second mark notice how high the grass is at the house on the right. Where’s the inspection dept? In my neighborhood if someones grass gets near the 6″ mark we’re all, and I mean all of us, get warnings no matter how high our grass is.

A 10-year-old boy was shot when his 14-year-old brother picked up a handgun the pair found while playing in their township neighborhood, police said.
The shooting has been ruled accidental, police said.
