Child on Bicycle Injured after being Struck by Vehicle

cyclist struck monmouthPHOTO: A young cyclist was injured after being struck by a vehicle a short time ago. The 11 year old boy was reportedly riding his bicycle on the sidewalk on 4th Street between Monmouth and Lexington Avenues, when he was struck by a vehicle exiting a parking lot shortly before midnight.

The boy was treated by Hatzolah BLS and ALS units and transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

Police asked that TLS remind parents to ensure children wear helmets, and use bike lights or reflectors when riding at night.

  1. There have been a few bicycle related accidents at that spot over the past several weeks. If I was a detective I would investigate if there is a relationship or other factor tying the victims together.. just seems too fishy.

  2. I almost never see boys wearing helmets in lakewood it’s the parents fault my children know that if they drive once without a helmet I take away their bikes.

  3. I have a child 2 years older than that and when she is out late I go pick her up. No-one expects to see a child that young biking at midnight. That being said the child should have a complete recovery.

  4. I think that Lakewood has a very high percentage of accidents. people are so machmir about kashrus, tznius and chinuch, but when it comes to safety – nobody cares. Attention Rabonim and local politicians!!!

No one was hurt to badly. Treated at scene and transported with non life threatening injuries to jersey shore medical center.
I ask the question again what level is our southern campus hospital ER in lakewood at? Few days ago head trauma to jersey shore, this boy non life threatening injuries. Do they accept any ER? Bruised arm, paper cut, splinter(finger only) , mild cough?
