Child, Adult Severely Burned in BBQ Explosion; One Airlifted

An explosion during a barbecue‎ left a child and adult severely injured in Lakewood, officials confirm to TLS.

Officials say it appears that shortly after midnight a bottle of lighter fluid‎ exploded while barbecuing, setting fire to a nine year old boy.

An adult who attempted to ‎douse the flames on the boy was also seriously burned.

The child reportedly suffered burns to his face and arms, and the adult to his arms and hands.

The boy was flown to Saint Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston, NJ, and the adult ‎was transported by Lakewood First Aid to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
