Those who are not that fortunate to have had their electricity restored, or haven’t being able to get a generator, the thought of spending Shabbos in the dark and cold is not something that they would like to think of.
A coordinator of Lakewood Chaveirim who has being busy all week supplying generators to those in need, tells TLS that at this point after numerous days of being without power everyone is considered in urgent need for a break back to normalcy with electric and heat. However, Chaveirim has literally run out of Generators and cannot supply anymore generators.
The coordinator tells TLS that in addition to the wonderful organization set up to assist people with finding a place, Chesed of Lakewood, an organization not affiliated affiliated, has contacted them last night that they have placed over 30 families for this coming Shabbos by families that are fortunate to have either electric or a generator and opened up their homes for Shabbos to families less fortunate.
Chaveirim is urging people to utilize this great Chesed being offered to them.
“It’s not staying by a stranger”, says Chaveirim, “they are people you Daven with, work with, or may Learn with on a daily basis.”
Chesed Of Lakewood tells TLS that they currently have numerous families that have offered to open their doors to members of the community, and are urging families and couples not to hesitate to contact them.
If you can host a family for Shabbos, even just for sleeping, please contact them at 732-901-0482.
there needs to be a different way to circulate this information! There are still so many without phone service and power that are not on the internet seeing this. How can we publicize this?
