Chaveirim: Shut Off And Drain Outdoor Faucets

Chaveirim LogoChaveirim has notified TLS of several calls they received from residents whose pipes burst due to the cold weather over the last few days. Members responded to several such calls, ironically in newer homes, which has left the basement with severe water damage as a result of the flooding caused by the busted pipe.

Chaveirim urges residents to ensure that the basement is properly heated and that outdoor faucets be properly drained. The way to properly drain the faucets, is by shutting them off from inside the home, and then opening the outdoor faucet to release the remaining water.

Another suggestion, Chaveirim says, is to purchase an ‘insulation cap’ for the faucets.

They really need funds to help them continue their beautiful work (communication infrastructure and equipment).
