Over the past 48 hours, Chaveirim has received at least 3 calls regarding children locked in a vehicle. The children are all okay, but Chaveirim and Police once again want to remind parents of the dangers and urge parents to take extra caution in these extreme temperatures, which could have catastrophic results.
Although none of the incidents were intentional, parents are strongly suggested to always keep the driver’s door open, with the air condition on, while your child is being secured in his seat. Only when the driver’s seat door is open, should the door to your child’s seat be closed. TLS-60/TLS-00/TLS-CCP.
thanks to all members ready to respond asap
And the same in reverse. Don’t shut your door till you open the rear door. Talking from experience. Thanks to Chaveirim for coming to my rescue 2 weeks ago. I had borrowed someone’s car and did not know how to open it when it locked automatically with a kid in the back!!
I think its time chavirim should get emergancy lights like hatzolah, in cases like this every second counts
If every second counts I’m calling the police, fire or EMS, not the equivalent to AAA.
Don’t wait bust a window away from the child!!!
Smash the window!!!
I totally agree with #4, Call EMERGENCY SERVICES or HATZOLAH , not Chavereim !!! it’s an emergency , not a flat tire …….
At least one of those calls were called in by pd
or when there is a fire in your home call the fd not chaveirim
hopeless ~ here we go again how many time do people need to be told about leaving their children in a car in this heat?
I called hatz and they came and they ended up calling for chaveirim to come …
Whoever u call in lakewood for these kind of emergencys either the police or hatzolah they will call chaveirim right away. So instead of calling them and bothering them u could call chaveirim directly
They’re probably calling chaverim because they aren’t locksmiths and can’t always get into the car. However, if they saw my child in distress they’d be able to break in and give CPR. does chaverim do that?
#12 , I don’t believe that to be the case all the time , CALL HATZOLAH AND PD if they need and there is time they’ll call Chavereim, if there is no time they’ll take the window out to get to the child.(I don’t recall seeing Chavereim help them by the Safety Fair when Hatzolah and Lakewood First Aid cut the car apart ) I’m sure a window is easier ….
Chavereim are not trained in First Aid and CPR and should not be called wherever there is even a doubt if a life is at stake , let’s not learn the hard way R’L
