Chaveirim of Central Jersey responded to over 450 calls in a 24-hour span ending this evening, following a powerful wind and rain storm swept through the area, leaving behind downed trees and power lines, as well as numerous reports of flooding on streets and in homes.
The calls for help ranged from flooding to high water rescues and power outages – atop of the regular calls received on an average day.
As of 8:30pm, the vast majority of Jersey Central Power & Light customers in Ocean County had their power restored, with just 230 still in the dark, according to power company.
At it’s peak, 85,000 JCP&L customers lost power in Monmouth and Ocean Counties but that is down to about to 7,700 tonight.
