Lakewood firefighters were able to locate the source of an electrical fire in a home with the assistance of Chaveirim of Central Jersey.
Early this morning, Chaveirim volunteers were called to a Lakewood home after the residents reported a strong burning odor.
The Chaveirim dispatcher advised the homeowner to contact the Lakewood Fire Department for assistance, and that they would be sending over members as well.
Firefighters worked for over an hour to locate the source of the burning smell, then a Chaveirim member, who is a licensed electrician by trade, helped disconnect the fixture in question.
During their investigation, firefighters noticed that the home lacked working smoke detectors and installed one free of charge.
“A huge thank you to Captain Ecks and the Ladder 5 crew for their dedication and professionalism,” a Chaveirim member told TLS. “We’re grateful we could assist and ensure the family remained safe in their home.”
Fire Chief Jon Yahr would like to reiterate the importance of immediately calling the Fire Department so as not to delay emergency response time.
so what was it? was it the HVAC?
