Of the seven independent candidates who filed yesterday for the Nov. 3 general election, two incumbent Democrats broke with their party. Charles Cunliffe, a four-term committeeman in Lakewood and a longtime Democrat, is making his re-election bid on the Independent Lakewood party. He is joined by Lynn M. Celli, 54, of Patriots Way. Cunliffe, 55, of Jennifer Drive was ousted from the party earlier this year for becoming a “lightning rod.” Celli is a small-business owner in town.
