New schedules for NJ Transit buses will take effect today, including changes on six Shore area bus routes. Passengers are advised to pick-up timetables or check schedules at www.njtransit.com. Local changes are: Route 137 Toms River/New York will have a seasonal change to accommodate a drop in ridership, said Joe Dee, NJ Transit spokesman. The 7:45 p.m. departure from New York will be dropped, and the 8:15 p.m. departure will be pushed to 8 p.m. Route 139 Lakewood/New York will have one trip eliminated between 6 and 6:30 a.m., and one trip will be added at 7:45 a.m. when ridership is heavier.
Route 317 Asbury to Philadelphia will see a minor change, and passengers should check time tables.
Route 830 Asbury Park to Point Pleasant Beach will have a trip adjusted to improve connections with the 832 bus. The 7:30 a.m. bus from Asbury Park will now depart at 7:20 a.m.
Route 831 Red Bank/ Monmouth Mall/ Long Branch will have early morning service, leaving Red Bank on the hour starting at 6 a.m. instead of offering half hourly service. The bus route will extend to the Long Branch train station and riders should consult timetables, Dee said.
Route 832 Red Bank/Monmouth Mall/Asbury Park will have weekday morning service start at the Asbury Park Transportation Center instead of from Kingsley Street and 4th Avenue to improve on-time performance, Dee said.
Route 836 Asbury Park/ Freehold Raceway Mall/Centra State Hospital will have the running time adjusted on Saturday and Sunday to improve on-time performance, and riders should check timetables for specific schedule changes, Dee said. APP
