Chai Lifeline Bone Marrow Drive At BMG

Chai Lifeline Bone Marrow Drive picVIDEO & PHOTOS  (in extended article) of this morning’s Chai Lifeline/Gift Of Life Bone Marrow Drive at BMG. Chai Lifeline is conducting the drive today and tomorrow for BMG students, prior to the advertised Thursday drive which is to take place at the Esther Gerber Hall, as previously posted. TLS spoke with R’ Avrohom Cohen, Executive Director of Chai Lifeline, who said that since the last drive conducted in Lakewood in 2007, 9 matches have been found, and there has been an increase of 15% of testers who were willing to go ahead with further testing after being notified of being a potential donor. Lakewood stands the highest rate of testers willing to move ahead, at 54%. R’ Avrohom Cohen attributes the increase largely to community education. “Through community education, people are realizing how simple and painless the process to save a life, can be” he said. 1. Due to discrimination laws you may be putting yourself at risk NOT to save a jews life, a serious halachic problem….(over 95% of sick ppl are not jews)

  2. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A JEWISH OR GOYIM THINK, ITS SAVING A HUMAN LIFE, HOW MANY TIMES HAVE A GOYIM SAVED ONE OF OUT LIVES AND WE MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN IT….THINK ABOUT IT

  3. YOU CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT, BUT IF I NEED A MARROW TRANSPLANT I DONT MUCH CARE WHERE IT COMES FROM, AS LONG AS ILL SURVIVE.

    CHESHVAN….HAPPY NOW

  4. Due to genetics, it is almost impossible that someone of pure Jewish descent (not a ger) would be a match for a non-Jew. Gift of Life cannot call themselves a Jewish organization, but they do clearly say they set up drive in predominantly Jewish neighborhoods in order to find matches for the Jewish patients.

  5. I think that Chai Lifeline, Gift of Life and other such organizations should be more upfront as to what the registry is and how it works. I had always assumed that these organizations maintained their own registries and donors would be matched up with recipients from within that organization. I was surprised to learn that this is completely not the case, and all tests go into a single international registry, and the recipient can be ANYONE/ANYWHERE in the world.

  6. Mr. “not poshit” . Your lack of knowledge and writing so factually shows your lack of intelligence. Making statements like yours are simply stupid and to false to comment on. For starters R’ Elyashiv personally investigated “ALL” the facts about two years ago and had R”Efrati write a letter. That not only tells people to get tested and signed into the registry. He clearly writes that if you are called to donate YOU SHOULD GO DONATE. On another note as of 3-4 years ago. Donating means removing blood from the donors arm then it goes thru a machine that extracts the much needed healthy cells for the cancer patient and instantly your blood goes right back into your other arm. Process takes 3-5 hours. I’m more then glad to answer any intelligent questions about this by phone (732)370-9897. OR you can Call Jay Fienberg at The Gift Of Life (800) 9MARROW that has saved 100’s Of “JEWS” life via this method.

  7. Beautiful !mi keamcha yisroel.I actually know personally of a little boy with Yena machla who received a bone marrow transplant because of one of these things!
