JUST IN: New Jersey lost one of its seats in the House of Representatives because the state’s population growth did not keep up with booming growth in the Southeast and West, according to the 2010 population count the U.S. Census Bureau released this morning, a Census official tells TLS.
The Census Bureau reported New Jersey grew 4.5 percent to 8,791,894, a gain of 377,544. But that paled in comparison to other States which grew by approximately 35 percent.
NJ had 13 seats until now.
The figures for Lakewood will probably not be available until March of 2011 a Census official tells TLS.
Several other states lost a seat as well including: New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Michigan and Ohio.
New Jersey is also the state with the highest population density.

With this reduction, I am beginning to feel a bit sqished.

Don’t worry. The lights have motion sensors.
