CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Toms River Police Arrest Masked Suspect Walking Around Jewish Neighborhood with Baseball Bat, Window-Breaker Tool [UPDATED]

Watch as a Toms River Police officer patrolling a Jewish neighborhood last night spots a masked man walking around with a baseball bat, and immediately orders him to the ground.

“I do nothing,” the man is heard saying before the metal bat is thrown away and he’s placed in cuffs.

This comes amid a heightened police presence due to recent home burglaries and robberies.

“At approximately 4:00AM, Sgt. Seaman was on proactive patrol in the Tallymawr development and observed a male subject on the front lawn of a residence with a baseball bat in his hand, a mask on and latex gloves on his hands,” police said. “He was immediately detained and a search of his person turned up a Swiss Tech emergency tool with a window breaker.

The man claimed he was making TikTok videos and failed to provide his name and information.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where further investigation revealed he was Jacob Castillo, 20 from Lakewood.

Mr. Castillo was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Burglar Tools and was transported to the Ocean County Jail.

Umm since when is it illegal to walk around with a bat? What exactly was he arrested for? What are the charges? I think we need to be careful. Fear can make us act on things that do not require action.

Its not…. However, throw in the fact that he was wearing a mask and latex gloves on top of it being 4 am changes things a bit.

Just sayin

I agree with your technicality, however you are presenting a viewpoint that would allow for people to be victimized.
If you cant arrest someone who objectively looks, and behaves suspicious, at 4 am in a neighborhood that isnt his own….
you have no law and order

I know of a town in New Jersey who makes any vehicles of residents and visitors at night register so that they right way realize any suspicious people. Lakewood is too populated to do it, but I think it can work well for Toms River

why would he be walking around a residential block with a bat anyways?
if the police would do nothing then the press would write that they were not doing their job.

Good job to the policeman who arrested this thief. No one is walking around with a baseball bat with mask and gloves at 4 AM without attempting to steal.
