    • No we do not need a traffic light there. We just need some drivers to pay better attention to the oncoming traffic and not be busy with other distractions. A few inattentive drivers should not be cause to unfairly inconvenience the rest of the world.

      • Yes a light does need to go up there. Yes people need to pay more attention but there are accidents at this intersection almost daily. Why wait until someone is……………..

  1. It seems that there is a lot of traffic there because of the shul. Maybe there should be a parking lot for the people going to shul there? Or at least a 4 way stop sign for safety.

  2. Pay attention driving, put the phones down and be a courteous driver. Too many accidents in Lakewood, the town is over packed with residents maybe some mass transit should be implemented in town. Get some cars off the roads before more deaths occur.

  3. All the years there was no accidents at that corner once he put the fence even though you can see through it
All the accidents happened take down that wall

    • Your statement is incorrect. The addition of the see through fence did not make the situation worse. If anything, it became better – because previously there were trees on the corner which obstructed the sight-triangle view for some drivers.

Let’s not always look to blame someone else for what is really the driver’s own in-attentiveness or just plain carelessness.

  4. A few people on here are letting their emotions get in the way of logical thinking. The automatic solution doesn’t always have to be the inconvenient traffic light.

There are many intersections all over the place with accidents where the cause was determined to be driver inattention. We cannot live in a world full of traffic-jam-causing traffic lights on every other block. This is NOT Brooklyn (though some developer’s may wish it were). The percentage of cars involved in accidents at that intersection is far less than half a percent of the amount of vehicles traversing that roadway.

Stop already with the knee-jerk reaction to scream for a traffic light when it is not needed.

In today’s video it certainly appears that the driver making a left turn onto Ridge Ave did not pay proper attention and check to see if there were any other vehicles heading west on Ridge before he made his move.

It could’ve been a lack of patience, some kind of internal distraction, plain risk taking, the speed of the driver heading straight on Ridge, or all the above. But stop the ridiculous knee-jerk and insensible reaction demanding a traffic light already!

  5. Yaakov – You are absolutely wrong.

The Brook/Ridge intersection (INTXN) itself is a totally straight line – exactly similar to a plus sign. Further, the relevant portion of Ridge Ave roadway extending east of the INTXN runs in a totally straight perpendicular line for several hundred feet. It is therefore impossible to logically claim any road curvature as a potential factor in this morning’s (rush-hour) accident.

So again, the only contributing causes were driver-related as I elaborated on earlier @ 5:12.

Consequently, there has been NO convincing argument put forth, and hence NO need, to force any more Stop signs or traffic signals on the otherwise overwhelmingly attentive drivers in that area.

  6. Jack- the facts dont lie: there has been a disproportionate amount of accidents there. Blame what u will but for the safety of, well, every1- something should be done. A four way stop would be a simple solution, as it forces every1 to slow down and be more attentive. Lastly, “overwhelmingly attentive drivers…” I only wish that were true..lol

  7. lkwdkon- I disagree. There is no valid reason to force more unnecessary stop signs down the driver’s throats. Most people are safe and attentive drivers and have never been involved in an accident overthere. Stop trying to inconvenience everyone for no good reason.

As long as you drive like a mentsch, you should be fine
