CAUGHT ON VIDEO: The following video was submitted by a reader, and occurred at the intersection of River Avenue and Central Avenue. Seen in the video, is a reckless driver speed around the bend from South Clifton Avenue, then crossing over a couple of lanes to make a left turn onto River Avenue, from a non-turning lane. The driver missed the light, all while nearly hitting another vehicle. The driver was spotted by police, who instantly pulled him over.
“Just a little reminder to those who are in such a hurry, that they risk injuring innocent bystanders, and getting pulled over by the police, which will only further their tardiness”, says the reader who submitted the video to TLS.
Why is someone video taping while driving? And why the need to follow the “action”?
TO THE VIDEO TAKER WHO SUBMITTED THIS:
IF YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS, WHY DONT YOU DO A LITTLE CHESSED INSTEAD. ITS RIGHT BEFORE ROSH HASHANA AND ONE THING I CAN TELL YOU IS THE YOU DONT GET ANY POINTS UP THERE FOR TAKING VIDEOS OF PEOPLE DRIVING AROUND LAKEWOOD AND RUNNING RED LIGHTS. USE YOUR TIME WISELY.
And why is this person filming while driving? Too bad another cop didn’t pull over the person filming.
THe driver did not skip a red light watch it closely it was a green light
I’ll give the driver the beneift of the doubt- how do you know it wasn’t a passenger recording a video???
Perfect example of why you can’t just assign all the cops to nights- situations like this can be deadly and the police need to enforce all laws, not just the ones that involve hardened criminals
Anyone who knows a little about videos knows that this is a dash mounted video camera. The driving nor passenger is recording, otherwise it would not be as steady as it is. I think its a good idea to have a video camera running while driving, only if its dash mounted of course. It protects you in case you get into an accident and there is a dispute about what happened, you have proof. Nothing wrong with that at all.
it’s a good thing this guy filmed this. These drivers who go thru lights are Rodfim & should be disclosed in public.
To #2…if more people could do this maybe the police would write MORE tickets against a certain group of drivers that think the rules don’y apply to them!!!
a few days ago i was driving to the other side of the lake at about 7:50 AM from the Park Avenue Area. at the stop sign for the 88 i realized i was being tailgated as i could not even see the persons license plates. I made the right and went to clifton avenue to make a left.
All of a sudden the same car behind me is beeping away becuase th elight turned green and i was not flooring it to make a left.
Before i know it he is making a left from behind me while i am making a left. YES he was in a rush and will not say what i did but he had a difficuly time trying to pass me.
At the corner of Hurley while i am in the right lane to make a right. he pulls from the left lane to make a right and cuts me off on the turn. At the light of hurley/central and the 9 he is in the center lane at a red light. I showed him that i was going to call 911.. when the light changed he all of a sudden cut left down the 9 almost hitting the cars in the lft turing lane.
NOW CHEVRA when I was stopped i pulled out my phone and took a picture of his license plates.
He drove like a mad man and was a reckless driver makeing dangerous crazy moves at least 3 time sand forget about tailgating.
Now lets think about this- he is not on hatzoloah (no lights).
So what gave him the license to take a car and use it reckless to chas vsholom danger the public with as a lethal weapon.
What’s the story with the new gas station?
number . he is considered a rodef according to your story . go turn him in . would you turn in a murderer ?
The camera is securely mounted on the dashboard, and recording at all times while driving.
It is a dash-cam to protect the driver in the event of a traffic ordeal, an incident with an aggressive driver or an mva. It is also an added bonus for other driver’s out there to aid in the capture of a hit and run driver, since the video can produce the make, model and/or license plate information.
The primary reason for the use of the dash-cam is to protect the driver, and in some cases other drivers or pedestrians on the roadway.
My apologies. It does indeed look like a dash mounted camera.. Maybe all cars should come equipped with built in dash cams.
you guys or crazy go do some teshuva instead of writing all your shtusim on the blog
it does seem this video was taken by a dash cam, it is too steady to be someone holding it, and i just want to say that i drive an ambulance that has a “drive cam” which is a professionally installed camera that automatically turns on and records 10 seconds before, and 10 seconds after a crash. A few months ago, I was driving down central avenue keeping a safe distance with the car in front of me, we are both doing approximately 45 mph, when out of no where the car SLAMS on his breaks to a complete stop , in middle of the street to pick up a hitchiker, as you know ambulances are very heavy and I had no time to stop and hit the back of his car. Luckily, no one was hurt and the damage was not too great. I got a ticket for following too closely, but my supervisors brought the video to court showing the reckless, dangerous driver and the kind of stop he made and the judge agreed, throwing out my ticket. He also encouraged me to go into the PD to file a ticket against that driver.
The lesson here? If possible, you should always have a video camera running, especially in lakewood where reckless driving seems to be a daily habit. You never know when you will need the video to prove it was not your fault.
Good day!
For those who hare not familiar with this intersection, there are three lanes coming from hurley accross rt 9 onto central. The right lane is right turn only, the middle lane is straight only, and the left lane is left turn only. This van made a left turn from the middle lane, while speeding, running a red light. I say this because I was a victim of a smilar thing when turning left from the left lane and some guy turned left from the middle lane and we almost hit each other, b’h we didnt, but it was close!!!!
as a bus driver hear in town, if i was so board i would be able to give you at least 5 such videos a day, face the fact there are many sick drivers out there
If you have such videos, plz post them! only through awareness can we get driversin town to drive better.
Actually, the right lane is not right-turn only.
wow
Accidents waiting to happen. I am getting a dash cam!!!!!
As mentioned, the right lane does allow vehicles to proceed staight onto Central Ave. And that in itself is whole other issue the the merge at the other side of the intersection.
The lesson is that reckless drivers are putting others into sakono and it is a mitzvah to report them – even on Erev Yom Kippur. Otherwise ask mechila from all the people that are being needlessly endangered
