Captain Chaplain Raphael Berdugo: Fire Which Blazed Approximately 4,000 Acres At Base, Contained

berdugo chopperCaptain Chaplain Raphael Berdugo tells TLS that the massive fire which burnt close to 4,000 acres at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, has been contained, as per an email received from the Joint Base. The fire, which began on Sunday afternoon, was contained by joint base and civilian emergency responders. No infrastructure damages or injuries have been reported.

Many Lakewood residents-and residents as far as Bucks County on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River-have been smelling the heavy smoke odor coming from the base.

Officials are encouraging individuals to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and avoid aerobic exercise in smokey areas.
