New Jersey’s three candidates for governor will hold their first debate tonight. Two new polls show the race tightening. A Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll out has Gov. Jon Corzine pulling within 3 points of Republican Chris Christie. Eight percent of the likely voters polled backed Independent Chris Daggett. A Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday had Christie up by 4. Corzine, Christie and Daggett appeared separately before the Black Ministers Council in Orange on Wednesday. The three explained their positions on education, health care and jobs.
New Jersey Network will broadcast the 90-minute debate starting at 8 p.m. AP
