Leah and Benjy Berkowitz were a typical family of 10, living a happy life in their small city in Israel. They had 8 children, and although several of the kids were autistic, they managed to keep the household running without too much trouble.
But then, seven years ago, their lives were suddenly upended. Benjy started to experience severe pain in his throat, and after several medical tests, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Benjy had to undergo chemotherapy, and Leah had to take on the role of both parents, caring for her children and her husband, who is often too weak to help.
Leah was already stretched to her limits, but then lightning struck twice. Their youngest son, Ari (11), was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He needs urgent, life-saving surgery as soon as possible, and Leah is terrified for his life. The family is struggling financially, and Leah is desperately trying to keep their home together and pay for rent, food and medication.
The Berkowitzes are going through a truly difficult time, and they need your help. Please donate whatever you can to help them cope with this unimaginable hardship. Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a huge difference for Leah, Benjy and their children.
Thank you for your generosity!
