[COMMUNICATED] By: Mrs. Greenspan. I first noticed Fleishigs magazine on the shelf while doing my weekly grocery run. I wondered how there can be a whole magazine dedicated to food, but new recipes are always great so I threw it in my cart.
Unpacking at home my son notices it right away.He takes it out of the bag and heads to the couch. “Ma how come you never bought this before it has so many cool stuff” he asks.
I laugh but later that night relaxing with my tea I got a chance to read it and boy was he right. Fleishigs offers something of interest to everyone in our family without politics. Reading the interviews with big chefs and great kitchen tips, I’m hooked.
The amount of recipes inside made it feel like a mini cookbook.
Even better than my cookbooks , this past issue featured a complete shopping list. Eliminating a run to my neighbor for cumin halfway through preparing a dish I never heard of before.
“We’re A Well Done Medium” is the slogan and with every edition they stick to that promise.
The most recent issue starts with an explanation of different cuts of meat and the type of dish that suits them. It moves on to various ways to prepare steak , and a variety of sauces to pair with.
The side dishes range from classic roasted potato wedges to new ideas like collard greens oh oh yum. For elaborate meals there is a beer and wine pairing section, super helpful when hosting a simcha. To top it all off there are several heavenly desserts. Key Lime Pie was our family favorite.
I recently started planning meals in advance, and the weekly planner (page 41) was full of good ideas. The shopping list ,divided by produce, pantry etc. even comes with a checkbox.
Like most families Sunday night dinner is leftovers. Reinventing The Meal is a column giving you new ideas using the leftovers you already have.
A fascinating travelers guide to Peru including when and where to visit is on page 64. This section, loved by adults and kids alike taught us about this amazing country. The gorgeous pictures made me want to hop on a plane asap. It includes tips for travel and Peruvian food to get a taste of their culture even before we get there. It’s these little details that make Fleishigs an instant hit. I already treated myself to a 2 year subscription. Although Fleishigs is new it’s popularity is growing. My coworkers love the recipes and helpful tips. My family enjoys the incredible entertaining content. The amount of content is enough to hold on until the next issue comes. In summary Fleishigs is a wonderful family magazine. The recipes are well written with gorgeous presentation. Kitchen tips that make my life easier. Discovering other cultures around the world and their dishes keep my children entertained. Most of all, when the guests leave full and happy. Now? I can’t wait for the new issue to come out.

Disgusting celebration of over the top gashmuyus. Not the LAKEWOOD I grew up in.
Making great dishes from scratch with joy and love is a great mitzvah. Buying over-priced take-out is not.
Wow! You’re inspiring the next generation in taavos achila. Great chinuch habonim.
Belongs in every non Torahdig home.
The nonstop ads for this magazine on Scoop outdoors on rt 9 are a disgrace.
“I wondered how there could be a whole magazine devoted to food”. Seriously? This is some pretty lame advertising copy.
Mrs. Greenspan…
Hmmm…
Related to the famous Greenspan I presume?
What’s Torahdig is to encourage somebody and wish them hatzlocha in their ventures. You don’t have to buy or read the magazine. Today social media (like the Scoop) is a key part of marketing. This person (how dare you mention names if true) should be wished all the best. What I find as a Chillul Hashem are the comments. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it. Especially to someone who is attempting and investing in something that could be very worthwhile and Kosher. All the best.
Wow! Talk about being judgmental! That is what this town needs?
How about you do your thing and let others do theirs? Do you know that it’s forbidden to rebuke someone unless comes from a place of love
How about first work on ur issues and then give your musar
Maybe magazine is a little over the top ( although I checked it out, was actually pretty flexible ok)
Shalom Shalom Mrs. Greenspan here…hollerin’ at you…
Sounds perfectly kosher to me. A magazine that helps a lady more easily cook for her husband and kids who are in Yeshuva or school a whole day, is helping the biggest Mitzva there is and, hence, is a thing of beauty. Ots not “over the top” gashmius. Plz, We gotta minimize the hate, ppl.
If you have the cash to spend on a magazine without needing a tuition/ camp discount, enjoy your magazine. Invite a friend for shabbos and make something new and delicious.
I would rather spend my $6 on a little meat and find a recipe online for free.
