Can this toy actually kill someone? An Urgent message from Hatzolah of Central Jersey

Hatzolah of Central Jersey is once again urging parents to keep their children away from radios that could interfere with emergency transmissions.

This past week, children were heard keying into a Hatzolah radio frequency – an issue which could Chas V’shalom prove fatal.

“It is a matter of Pikuach Nefesh,” says Rabbi Avraham Moshe Muller, a longtime Hatzolah paramedic.

Several years ago, a child keyed in and interfered with Hatzolah while they were attempting to dispatch a serious call – and the outcome was terrifying for both members and for the patient waiting for help.

“It was seconds of radio transmissions that literally could have made the difference between life and death,” said Meir Lichtenstien, a Hatzolah Captain.

“I beg parents, if you are going to get your child a radio, please, do not allow them on radios that have the ability to interfere with Hatzolah transmissions. This could be very, very dangerous,” said Lichtenstien.

Parents who are looking to purchase radios for their children and would like to ensure they are safe, can call Hatzolah Administrator Motty Twerski at 732-363-5600 x 203.

  1. I fully agree with this. It’s the same with FD and other organizations as well. Parents, please be aware that these “toys” interfere with ongoing transmissions during live calls and is not an appropriate “toy” for children to be playing with.

  2. It is a private channel. It is against federal law for your child to be keying in on Hatzolah’s or anyone else’s private channel.

  3. A few years ago, Hatzolah of BP had the same issue with children interfering with their channels. All if not most of the Yeshivas banned the use of walkie talkie radios that have channels. I must say that it really helps.
It pays to have the principals tall about this in the class & to have them banned too.

  4. I had last week Thursday night 2 hatzola paramedics by my house for an urgent call, kids were playing with the radios and the members couldn’t concentrate on the matter they were dealing with due to the kids interfering, BH all worked out (the members had to shut their radio not being able to communicate with the rig)

  5. its disgusting….. there are tons of kids with scanners that listen in to hatzolah which is probably a shayla of geneivas das, its a reall issur in the torah. its private private information hatzalah deals with on a day to day basis no one calling hatzalah wants any1 outside the orginization to be listening. please parents and rabbeim be michanich ur kids correctly not to be invovled in this stuff, hatzolah is a great organization lets not trouble them from doing the chessed they do correctly
