Brook Road Detour To Last Until January For Bridge Repair

Freeholder Director Gerry P. Little has announced that the replacement of the bridge on Brook Road will require the Lakewood-Howell road to be closed until January, 2013.

Only local traffic is allowed to enter from County Line Road.

The project, being done by the County, began June 26.

The county should have hired a real professional company to replace it, as it would have been finished by now……….

A friend of mine is working for that “a real professional company” that was hired to fix that bridge. Got burned badly too while working on it as a matter of fact. It hasn’t been easy. He had told me not too long ago it would be done by the end of September, pretty confident about it. I’ll bet the state or county or some other agency nitpicked the work and they have to redo it. I’ll ask and get back to ya.

township should explain:

1. why is it taking so long
2. stats on similar construction projects (outside of Lakewood)
3. which ONE person owns the project.
4. public hearing with that ONE person (maybe overkill????)

I guess they get paid by the hour and belong to a union.

It’s Stavola, same company that did New Hampshire Ave. I don’t know if they’re union, but my friend said he couldn’t wait for that project to be over. I’m sure he’s not thrilled to be there until January. I asked, but haven’t heard back yet but will definitely see him on Saturday to ask.

My mistake, it’s not Stavola, but regardless, he doesn’t know what the Freeholder is talking about. He says it’ll be done by the end of the month.
