Brick Police Officer injured when suspected DUI driver strikes his vehicle

A Brick police officer was injured when a suspected DUI driver struck his vehicle, police said.

At approximately 11:45pm on Wednesday night, while Patrolman Michael Dinnebeil was conducting a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 70 eastbound in the area of Kentwood Blvd., an intoxicated driver struck Patrolman Dinnebeil’s vehicle, causing injury to the officer.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, 38 year-old Corey Breitenbruck of Point Pleasant, was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Assault by Auto, along with other motor vehicle violations.

Patrolman Dinnebeil was transported to Ocean Medical Center, treated for injuries, and released.
