Brick Man Arrested After Police Recover $15,000 Worth of Tools

A 35-year-old Brick man has been arrested following an investigation into multiple vehicle burglaries throughout the north side of the town, police said.

During September, Brick Police investigated multiple vehicle burglaries in which work vehicles were targeted and approximately $15,000 worth of tools, equipment and other property was stolen. The suspect was described as a white male, possibly in his 30s, operating a dark-colored SUV.

Detectives identified the suspect as Anthony S. Cerchio, 35, of Brick, and obtained a court-authorized search warrant for his residence and vehicle.

With assistance from members of the Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit and Detective Bureau, investigators executed the search warrant and recovered approximately $15,000 worth of tools and other property believed to have been stolen during the vehicle burglaries.

Cerchio was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, receiving stolen property and fencing. He was released on a summons pending a further court hearing.

During the investigation, additional evidence connected Cerchio to multiple vehicle burglaries in Point Pleasant Borough, where additional stolen property was recovered. Point Pleasant Borough Police filed charges related to the burglaries committed within its jurisdiction.
