Following The Lakewood’s Scoop’s breaking of the story this afternoon about a doctor who threatened Jews being offered a residency at Kern Medical in Bakersfield, California, Kern has issued a statement saying that Dr. Lara Kollab’s residency offer has been withdrawn. The statement was dated March 15, so one of our reporters called the hospital.

“Had Kern released this statement before today?” we asked.

“No,” said Miranda Whitworth, Kern’s Manager of Communications and Public Relations. “We had prepared the statement just in case anyone asked us, but before today there had been no inquiries.”

Three months ago, Dr. Kollab was fired by a prominent hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, after it was discovered that she had threatened Jews. She has since deleted her social media, but screenshots of her posts — dating back to 2011 — were documented by the Canary Mission, a site dedicated to exposing anti-Semitism in an effort to combat its rise on college campuses. Kollab’s posts called for violence against Jews, defended Hamas, and trivialized the Holocaust. These sentiments were repeated in dozens of similar posts from 2011-2017.

Kollab said, “ill purposely give all the yahood the wrong meds…” Yahood is an Arabic term for Jewish people. Other tweets made reference to “Jewish dogs” and said in Arabic, “Allah will take the Jews.”

We applaud Kern Medical for distancing itself from Lara Kollab and suggests that all medical schools, hospitals and healthcare-related facilities do the same in an effort to protect their clients and patients from any potential harm. We will certainly keep a watchful eye on the issue and report on any developments.
