The US House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump over abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
The votes came after months of allegations made by Democrats who say that Trump abused his power by attempting to coerce Ukraine into investigating his political rival, Joe Biden.
Trump is now the third sitting president to be impeached, after Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, and the first Republican president to be impeached.
The Senate will vote on whether to remove President Trump from office after New Year’s. Removal from office requires a supermajority of Senators to vote in favor. No president has ever been removed from office by the Senate.
The Trump campaign released the following statement:
“The contrast between President Trump and the Democrats couldn’t be more clear. While the President rallied with tens of thousands of citizens in Michigan and celebrated the greatness and success of America, Democrats in D.C. completed their cold, calculated, and concocted 3-year impeachment sham and voted against 63 million Americans. And the only part of the vote that was bipartisan was in opposition. The President is just getting stronger while support for the Democrats’ political theater has faded. Undeterred, President Trump keeps racking up victories for the American people, who will respond by resoundingly re-electing him next November.”
It’s all theatrics.
The senate won’t remove him.
This is going to backfire on the democratics.
Pelosi is just trying to get under trumps skin. That’s all it is.
The Democrats timed this to create outrage and rally their voter base for the election. I think they just lost the election. When Clinton was impeached it increased his approval rating to 70%
The process was not done in a fair way.
The democrats on purpose did not let certain individuals to testify.
If they honestly felt that he should be impeached, how come they were afraid to let those individuals to testify???
Because those witnesses had nothing to do with trump, they were about biden.
Which has everything to do with the charges. If the underlying investigation was justified, which it was, the Dems have no impeachment.
Remember if you vote for Trump for a second term you have to take back the House and keep the Senate or there will be 4 more years of the Democrats doing nothing.
Imagine the Senate has a Democratic majority. Thank G-d not.
