FIRST REPORT: [UPDATED] The suspect wanted for attempted murder on a Toms River Police Officer today was apprehended moments ago. Police say Shamar Kerr, 24, of Jackson, was found in the woods at the Toms River-Lakewood border following an approximately four-hour manhunt. (Read original story here on TLS).
The suspect, located by Toms River Police Sgt. Keith Diehl, was taken into custody without incident.
Kerr has been charged with Attempted Murder, Eluding Police, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute.

I am glad this person was apprehended. I hope that the police realize the drug and gang problem is only getting worse as they let it go and FINALLY call in the state to uproot this problem.
Thank goodness he was apprehended with out any long delay. I thank those who found him, it is because of you we can rest easy knowing he’s off the streets.

i saw this. I DROVER through this mess. Cops and feds and state police, you name it, were checking inside all the cars including mine, when driving by Cox Cro rd. What kind of (moderated), causes a ruckus, that requires honest police, and agents to risk theit lives!

to #6, if he is innocent, he wouldnt have to hide in the woods and have the police search for him for 4 hours!! and anyway, he was found in possession of drugs , so a automatically he is guilty and deserves to be arrested…you cant blame everything on rascists…sorry!

uh, helloo!! of course i would say the same thing!! no matter if someone is white, black, spanish, or whatever, if they are in possession of drugs (which is illegal) and trying to run over a cop, and then fleeing his vehicle on foot, and hiding in the forest, and possibly in possession of a weapon….hello, seriously! of course we would be happy he was arrested and off the streets!

Um, there are *some* citizens or landed immigrants (green card holders) who *do* occasionally break the law. It is beyond ludicrous to think that every crime is committed by an illegal alien.
Does the fact that this wicked perpetrator is (assumedly) a citizen mitigate the difficulties that Lakewood residents have with illegals?
Think 1) education – attending our schools to the tune of 80% enrollment without paying any taxes,
2) using the Emergency Rooms at local hospitals for routine health care,
3) offering themselves for hire, which in effect takes jobs away from the unemployed,
4) and yes, any crime that illegal aliens *do* commit (aside from the federal crime of entering the country illegally).

The illegals do pay for school as the landlords pay property taxes. & citizens are the only ones that can get welfare or any government benefits

To Chiam illegals live in overcrowded apartments. One bedroom apartments with 3 kids. The landlords taxes are about $1000, the cost of educating their kids $51,000.
While they are not elegable for all benefits they are eligible for some. Do a little search and you will find that the government has paid out billions in earned income tax benefits to illegals, and their children when born in the U.S. are considered citizens and eligable for all benefits.
