FRIGHTENING: Shoppers say ‘Shema Yisroel’ as madman robs Shoe Palace at gunpoint (PHOTO)

shoe-palace-2[UPDATED] Shoppers had a frightening experience this evening when a madman stormed the Shoe Palace and robbed the store at gunpoint this evening, TLS has learned.

An employee at the store at the time says a man ran into the new Jewish-owned Route 9 store in Howell around 6 PM and began screaming for everyone to get on the floor. He then held up a gun to the Frum employee’s head, demanding money.

“People in the store said Shema Yisroel,” the employee said.

Two children who were in the store at the time ran out when the suspect entered, the employee said.

The employee complied and gave the suspect whatever cash he had. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male wearing a black jacket, fled on foot.

Lakewood and Howell police are searching the area.

  1. Wow- So crazy! Poor employees and customers! Shoe Palace is one of the best things that happened to Lakewood and I am so impressed with their amazing slelecion and service! IyH they should have continued mazal and hatzlacha servicing our community!

  2. The desperate drug addict whom robbed the store is behind the times.
25 years ago there was still alout of cash in retail; but Today over 90% of customers pay by credit card, whatever cash the robber made out with believe me it wasn’t much; but everyone’s shattered nerves is far more costly.
