BREAKING: Officials: We are Looking into Outsourcing Plowing; “People are Very Disappointed”

breaking news tls 2 submitted“People are very disappointed,” an official within the township told TLS moments ago.

As evident from the comments, dozens of roads throughout the township were not event touched since the start of the storm, frustrating many residents.

“Yes, it was a big storm, but things could have been done better,” the official told TLS.

Officials are already in touch with at least three private plow companies to try and outsource the work.

“Besides for future storms, we are trying to get them here ASAP for this storm” the official told TLS.

  1. My street in Westgate was finally done at midnight but only a very thin strip down center was plowed why couldn’t the plow at least go to one curb. The street is still impassable

  2. Too little too late…. The problem here is, that the DPW needs a complete overhaul and new leadership.. Until that happens anything that is done is just a band aid.

  3. I’m extremely upset and frustrated. I am supposed to work Sunday’s, but my street hasn’t been touched once! There are the same footprints in middle of road from people walking yesterday. To add insult to injury the plow that went through the main artery boxed in our neighborhood by piling up snow at the entrance so even if we somehow got to entrance of neighborhood there is no way out.

  4. They should really focus all the plowing on areas with new construction. We don’t want the construction to be held up for even one day c”v.

  5. To wg they at least made a pass new England James area they have not made a pass what would happen if there is a emergency all I’m asking is for a lane for REAL emergency vehicles and on the other side anyone driving for no good research should be arrested

  6. WITH ALL DO RESPECT to the Lkwd township for all the amazing work do… Village Park has not yet seen a plow since the first snow flake fell!!!

  7. I’ve lived in other towns before u moved here. Other towns (in NJ) are much more effective at removing the snow. I understand this was a large storm but I feel like lakewood has failed to adequately clear the roads even after much smaller storms. There needs to be accountability.

  8. The Firehouses were not plowed until 8PM!!!!! The Volunteers leave their families and stand by the Firehouses, and when they get a call they get stuck in the driveway. This is how you treat those who volunteer to protect this town!!??

  9. Our driveway along with several neighbors are all cleaned to road. The one thing that has always annoyed me for years everywhere is when the plows do come and bury you back in.

  10. We had an oursourced pick up truck with a 3′ plow make a single pass. Most of the neighbors were considerate enough to park on one side only. He should’ve plowed to that curb.

  11. Mackenzie Ct (Chestnut Estates) a plow HAS NOT come through once. 30 inches of snow in street. Too many developments being built and not enough resources Lakewood.

  12. from a Monsey NY resident
every road was plowed and passable by 9 PM last night..
They are now dropping salt and touching up

When I moved here from Lakewood it was one of the first things i noticed. An hour after the last flake falls the roads are passable…. this is not an accident,it is called being prpared

  13. Courtesy plowing has been cancelled for all those that live further than 200 ft of the public buildings
Morris ave in hearthstone still had not seen a plow

  14. I live in brick and our street already got plowed 4 times, and before the storm even happend they put a whole layer of salt on the road!!!

You may as well move here because by February you wont have bussing anyway 🙂

  15. Stirling Ave, Linden Ave and the rest of Ridge wasn’t touched. A Plow passed but failed to lower his plow! Really??? We went from a 6 home block to a 20 home block increasing taxes by many times and we got nothing!!!! Disappointed.

  16. I live on Clifton near the public school. all day yest and this morn the twnshp was working on plowing not just the road and sidewalks but…THE SCHOOL YARD! today it looks like a pvt company is continuing to work there. that is where our tax money and workers are busy

  17. this was one of the largest snowfalls in the last hundred years! its true we had a few large storms in the past 15 years but prior to that the 20 inches we got would rank in the top 2 or 3 ever recorded. Maybe we should have a little patience and not go crazy over a DPW failure (assuming it was a failure) over a storm that we probably won’t see more than a hanfull of before we are great-grandparents. Personally I’d rather have decent trash &bulk removal, chametz burning etc. pothole repair (which has vastly improved recently)which is needed on a regular basis. Let’s be big boys and girls and put this in perspective.

  18. I second what “just saying” said – where can we call or post the streets that weren’t touched even once yet? We are here on New York ave, which is NORMALLY impassable as it is narrow and busy, but now with the snow it really is … All of us residents are stuck here, and most of us have work tomorrow! This little street gives the township revenue WELL in excess of $200k, is it too much to ask to clear it?? how about we hire our own contractor and deduct the cost from our RE tax?

  19. North Apple Street, Eden Court, Orchard Court hasn’t seen a plow. About 250k in taxes annually from us, you think they should be able to afford plowing even on the weekend?

  20. I live across from the public high school, and the entire shabbos and Sunday, there were three heavy duty snow removal vehicles (at least 1 tractor,I think 2) plowing the parking lot! That’s where our plows are. There isn’t even school tomorrow! It’s ridiculous!
