Ocean County Deputy Director Gary Quinn will not be seeking reelection, TLS has learned.
Quinn has served in public office for 26 years, but did not receive the endorsements he needs ahead of the elections.
“For 26 years I have had the privilege of serving in public office as an elected official,” Quinn said. “It all started as a member of the Lacey Township School Board followed by 15 years as a member of the Lacey Township Committee and most recently as an Ocean County Commissioner for the last 6 years.”
He added, “It has truly been an honor to serve at all levels of government and I am extremely thankful to all my supporters and the residents of Lacey Township and Ocean County for allowing me to represent you.
This year I am up for reelection to the Board of Commissioners and even though I enjoy my position, I have struggled with my decision on whether to seek reelection in November.
Ocean County is growing rapidly and the time it takes to do my job properly requires me to be out 3-4 nights a week and most weekends. Although it is not a requirement of the job, I have always believed that if one of the 33 towns that I represent invites me to a meeting or function I should be there.
Unfortunately, with the schedule I keep I am always missing out on the ability to attend family functions and activities for my 3 grandchildren. Anyone that knows me knows how much I adore my beautiful grandchildren and how important my family is to me.
Going forward I recognize its time for a change to allow me to spend more time with my family and based on that, I have made the decision not to seek reelection this year to the Ocean County Board of Commissioners.”
It has been a pleasure to work with all of my fellow Commissioners during the last 6 years. I am thankful to the Ocean County Republican Organization for their support, and I look forward to supporting the Republican Candidates Jennifer Bacchione and Rob Arace this year to run for County Commissioner.”
In addition, Crea, who was first elected in 2021 also announced she will not seek re-election after she too was denied the party endorsement.
They are expected to be replaced on the ballot by Manchester Mayor Robert Arace and Berkeley Township BOE President Jennifier Bacchione.
